After 80 years Mickey Mouse is still going strong. With the popularity of Disney World vacations and the Mickey Mouse Clubhouse television show, children are still as fascinated as ever by this little mouse.

Mickey Mouse Cake & Cupcake Supplies

Fondant is a very popular technique used in cake decorating. You could use fondant to decorate your Mickey Mouse cake. As you can see from the two Mickey cakes displayed to the right, the cake decorators used lots of fun, bright colors and shapes to represent the Mickey's Clubhouse television show.

You can make stars, clouds, a silhouette of Mickey's head/ears, a representation of Mickey's Clubhouse, gears and lots more.

The first fondant Mickey cake pictured here was created by Special Cakes by Tracey. She included a nice Mickey's Clubhouse design on the front of the cake accented with clouds and stars. The cake is topped with Mickey & Minnie cardboard cut outs.

The second Mickey Mouse cake here was designed by Way Beyond Cakes. This cake is decorated with gears, film strip, Mickey Mouse head/ears, and more. This cake decorator even went a step further by purchasing a disco ball and replacing the ball with styrofoam. She then painted the styrofoam black and it actually revolved on top of the cake! How cool is that? Wow!

Baking a cupcake cake for your child's birthday party is another great idea. Cupcake cakes are great because you get the look of a cake with the ease of handing out individual cupcakes.

If you decide to make a cupcake cake, you could top it with Mickey's face as in the photo displayed here. There is a Mickey Mouse head template that you can use to draw Mickey's head onto the cupcake cake. Or, you can top it with the plastic toppers, fondant shapes or any other decorations you would like.

Cupcakes always make great birthday party treats. If you decide to make cupcakes for your child's party, there are many fun designs to choose from.

If you would like to top your cupcakes with fondant, there are so many cute things you could do. Take a round fondant cutter and cut out Mickey's ears. Then, take a slightly larger round fondant cutter to cut out Mickey's head. Put the pieces together and place on each cupcake. You could also add in some colorful stars to top the cupcakes with as well.

I came across this awesome Mickey Mouse 3D birthday cake from Kelly at Leaving My Mark blog. This cake looks amazing, but is fairly simple to make. Kelly provides step by step instructions and photos, so you will be able to make this cake too!

Kelly used a cake pan which is shaped like a round bowl for the head. For Mickey's ears, she baked cupcakes in a jumbo muffin pan and filled them a little too full so that they would rise well above the top creating a nice dome. She sliced the domes off of the cupcakes and iced two pieces together to form each ear. After freezing all of the parts, she attached the ears to the head using skewers. She then iced the cake and added some fun cake decorations including a Mickey figure and sorcerer hat.
